Singapore PM To Meet Casino

Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore, will meet with casino operators from Las Vegas during his visit to the U.S. which begins on Wednesday, according to the government.
A statement from the prime minister’s office announced that Lee will visit New York, Washington DC and Las Vegas from July 6-16.
Lee is scheduled to meet with U.S. President George W Bush, Vice President Richard Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of Treasury John Snow, National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley, National Intelligence Director John Negroponte and leading members of Congress.
Singapore is ready to shed its prim old-maid image and after months of debate has announced that it is reversing an old ban and allowing the building of two integrated resorts with casinos to boost tourism. These two casino resorts will be located at Marina Bay near the city center and on the resort island of Sentosa. Requests for proposals for the establishment of these resorts will be issued before the end of September.
The shortlist for the prospective bidders to receive the request for the proposal package for the casino resorts include MGM Mirage (MGG), Harrahs Entertainment Inc. (HET), Wynn Resorts Ltd. (WYNN) and Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS).
